Introducing the Santa Tracker Podcast

Friends,

A big day just got bigger. Mark Leon Day 2021 as the day that the Santa Trackers Podcast officially launched. Just posted by Elf Frank Myrrh is the first episode which features both Elf Lil Cream and Elf Crash Murphy.

I can tell you that behind the scenes a lot of work has gone into this project. It is only going to get bigger over time, too.

The intent of this podcast is to showcase our Santa Tracker elves. The introductory episode does a nice job giving you just a taste of that with Elf Lil Cream’s featurette. She is, as you know, the host of A Creamy Christmas Podcast. But this episode explains a little bit about the inspiration for the whole Santa Tracker elf program that Santa launched five years ago.

We hope this adds a little joy to your Leon Day and that you plan to tune in going forward as we share more and more about Santa Tracker elves.

Leon Day Offers a Chat for Elves

Hi elves!

Elf Ivy Holley here. I just wanted to remind you guys that today is Leon Day. It is the halfway mark to Christmas and it is something of a big deal at the North Pole. I’m sure you’ve already read all about it over at SantaUpdate.com.

Well there’s something else going on today — it’s a chat with Elf Crash Murphy! You know Crash. Or at least I hope you know Crash. He’s a big guy in the Santa Tracker movement and you need to get to know him. For Leon Day Crash agreed to come do a chat and I think you should let all your friends and family know about it. Especially those who are NOT elves yet. It is a good way to slowly introduce them to the idea of becoming an elf.

Elf Crash is a straight talker. He’s kinda funny but always honest about Santa, tracking Santa and the North Pole. He’s got a cool story. And his chats are always entertaining. So you should come and invite as many others as you can.

Now, we know it’s Friday night. We know it is summer time for some of you, winter for others. And that means different stuff. But it will be held over in the North Pole Chat Room at SantaUpdate.com at 7:30pm EST. This chat was added to the calendar only a week or so ago.

If you do one thing to celebrate Leon Day come chat with Elf Crash!

Tracking Santa on the Radio

It has come to the attention of the Public Relations Department at the North Pole that some elves are not familiar with North Pole Radio News and the work they do in tracking Santa around the world.

Well, watch this first:

We present this information in advance of sharing the first episode of the Santa Trackers Podcast – which is coming out at any moment.

You will also soon hear of a Christmas-in-July opportunity to hear the North Pole radio news broadcast from last Christmas – if you weren’t around the hear it on Christmas Eve. It’s very exciting.

We will be glad to answer any questions you might have.

Santa Tracker Herald Star Now Online

The Santa Tracker Herald Star is now online. It is a news publication by elves about elves for elves.

It includes North Pole specific information normally reserved for elves living at the North Pole. Select features are shared with the North Pole Gazette, the hometown newspaper for North Pole Village that has published for close to 200 years. You must be a logged in user of SantaTrackers.net to access this special feature.

The North Pole is going to great lengths this year to share more news than ever before. The Santa Tracker Herald Star is a major part of that effort.

From this publication you will learn details about the North Pole effort never shared before. Developments from Santa’s Research and Development Department, flight plans from North Pole Flight Command, community news and events, and the stuff of elf culture (advice and gossip) will all be shared. It does not contain everything as available at the North Pole but it contains a lot!

What we think will make this really special is the stuff we will be sharing about you, our Santa tracker elves all over the world. Our readers at the North Pole are excited to learn more about you. That’s part of what we do this – to embed you in the North Pole and the North Pole in you.

A lot of elves are working this project. Some you may already know. Others you will get to know. Their stories are coming day-by-day. We hope you enjoy and contribute.

How to Get in Trouble as an Elf

Some have recently sent in the question “Where did Elf So-and-So go?”

Well, I’ll tell ya. You don’t see them on the Elf Chat or the Elf Wall or on the Elf Map because they got busted. They didn’t leave, they got busted. They broke the only real rule we have: BE NICE.

That’s just too hard for some elves.

I don’t know what more we can do to make it clear. You are taught it in learning the Elf Code. You swear to it when you take the Elf Oath. Elf Max has warned about it a couple of times.

Well, you know who the elf executioner is? Me. Elf Moe. Head of the North Pole Complaint Department. It always comes to me and, well, I’m an impatient elf.

This is how you get in trouble or get banned from being an elf:

  1. Boss other elves around.
  2. Assume you are an important elf and try to do jobs that are not yours to do.
  3. Brag you are an elf.
  4. Never take a shower. (Ewwwwww)
  5. Use bad words
  6. Be mean
  7. Lie
  8. Steal
  9. Cheat
  10. Pretend you are Santa
  11. Take the wings off flies
  12. Call other elves names
  13. Speak ill of the reindeer
  14. Use a hair dryer on a snowman
  15. Lick the frosting off of sugar cookies
  16. Set the Christmas tree on fire
  17. Use super glue in the Wrapping Department
  18. Litter from the sleigh
  19. Post bad pictures
  20. Say someone is on the naughty list
  21. Put salt in the sugar shaker
  22. Drink the last of the eggnog
  23. Stuff spiders in stockings
  24. Tell Mrs. Claus that Santa says she is fat
  25. Tease Rudolph

Now, guys, I don’t want to ban you and you don’t want to be banned.

But let’s make one thing perfectly clear: if you get banned you’re never coming back. It’s a one-way ticket. If you can’t act like an elf, you can’t be an elf.

I hope this is the last time this needs to be discussed. We have lost some pretty good elves recently who just could not be nice. It has nothing to do with Santa. In fact, Santa won’t even hear about it if I had my way.

He needs elves. But he needs people who are ready to BE elves.

Okay?

First Altair Elf Named

As the Elf Community grows we would like to celebrate those who contribute the most. The first level of recognition for an outstanding contribution to the community and overall elf excellence is what we call the Altair Award.

What does Altair mean? It’s a name for one of the brightest stars in the sky. We think it is an appropriate designation for those who bring so much to the elf community.

The level we set for this achievement is 5000 points. The first to reach this level is Elf Lil Cream. If you are active at all in the Elf Community you, of course, know who Elf Lil Cream is. She is an outstanding elf who participates regularly, has served as a City Captain, she hosts her own tracker podcast, and she is a friend to all she encounters online. She was recently hired as a Certified Podcaster and is working with Elf Frank Myrrh on the all-new Santa Trackers Podcast. She is also under consideration for other elf positions.

As our first Altair elf, she receives a heart 1000-point bonus. As with all ranks, she will be able to grow within the Altair tier in gaining up to five additional red stars. Those levels are not disclosed publicly and they are pretty steep. We have no doubt she will continue to soar to new heights.

And an Altair Elf you will see, if you visit her profile, a special designation under her profile picture as well as a new badge in her badge library that looks like this:

Elf Excellence - Altair

We are excited for this badge and look forward to awarding more of them soon. We have several other elves on the leader board who are knocking on the door of this achievement.

News About the News

Yesterday’s post from Elf Harold Star about the new news portal known as the Santa Trackers Herald Star has brought a number of questions. My post today is to introduce this new feature to you even though it will not be visible to you for at least a couple of months.

The Santa Trackers Herald Star is a newspaper-like publication for members of our Elf Community. It is NOT for freelance elves or the eyes of the general public. It will be headed up by Elf Harold Star, who will be editor-in-chief. He will have several copy editors and we hope a full staff of at least 25 reporters.

In fact, the Department of Elf Resources today posted for the open positions of Santa Tracker News Reporters.

These jobs will be filled by a mix of veteran and rookie news reporters. Elf Harold wants to make sure the news of Santa Trackers – YOU – comes first. He wants everyone to know that the elf community will be a prominent fixture in this new publication.

It is anticipated that the Herald Star will be available online sometime in May.

Why so long?

Because none of the reporters have actually been hired yet. In order to print news, they need news stories. To get news stories, they need reporters. That’s why the Department of Elf Resources has put out the urgent hiring notice today.

In the next few days the first hires of the news staff will be announced. There will also be formation of a private group in the Elf Community just for news reporters, where ideas and suggestions can be shared among those charged with finding and reporting the news.

We’re very excited about this development and look forward to getting new news published via the Herald Star very soon.

The Herald Star to Publish Soon

The North Pole will be publishing an all-new news portal to be known as the Santa Trackers Herald Star. The newspaper-style media will be an exclusive feature for members of the SantaTrackers.net elf community. It is expected that the publication will make its debut soon on SantaTrackers.net.

The North Pole News Department has announced that veteran elf newsman Harold Star will be the editor. In an exciting development, Senior Vice President of Public Relations, Elf Ernest, has announced that the publication will be staffed by a mix of veteran and rookie elf reporters. It is hoped that applicants will come forward from each sector to help report the news.

What makes this publication unique is that it will showcase news ABOUT Santa tracker elves. This is different that the other news on SantaTrackers.net that is FOR Santa tracker elves.

Santa himself has fully endorsed this project. In an early January meeting where the idea of the publication first took root Santa enthusiastically embraced the idea of sharing news about Santa tracker elves. “They should be not only recognized for their great work,” Santa said. “They should be heralded for the work they do.”

The comment is thought to be the genesis for the publication’s name, the Santa Tracker Herald Star.

While exact details of all the content that will be published in the Herald Star is still being worked on we do know that aside from Santa tracker elf features the publication will report on general Christmas news and feature topics such as Christmas movie reviews, advice columns, Christmas foods features and North Pole articles of elf culture.

Hiring for the publication is underway and first edition news stories are being worked on.

Update on New Elf Jobs

I think it is time we update you on the new elf jobs that are coming. Many of you are very anxious to apply and start in those jobs.

First of all, we have time. We have talked about them a little bit on the jobs page and on the Department of Elf Resources Job Board. But many of them are not quite yet ready to fill.

You see, we’re adding some new staff to Santa Trackers. Gosh, remember when there was just me here to keep things going? Now we have a whole team of elves. Check it out at this link.

Now, I know you’re asking, who are these elves? After all, some of these guys haven’t even logged on here yet.

You’ll get a chance to meet them all.

But they haven’t logged on because these are new jobs for them. They are getting some training right now. New desks. New computers. Lectures from all the elf hot shots. You know how it goes.

In any event, they will be introduced in time. Once they are trained, introduced to the community and have spent a little time here THEN you’ll start to see some of these new positions posted. (Especially for the News Department elves).

I know it seems like a long time in coming. But some of these new jobs are paired with new features we will have on the site. And we’re still working on those. We have a newspaper to publish, a teacher’s portal to build and a couple of other big surprises in the works.

So all these pieces need to come together. And they will.

We just need to be patient.

Thanks for the questions. Keep them coming. Just please understand we’re working as fast as we can.

The Elf Knowledge Test

We are pleased to announce the Elf Knowledge Test.

The EKT is exactly what it sounds like – it a challenge for you to showcase your elfness.

Do you have to take it?

No, of course not.

But you might want to. The Elf Knowledge Test is a way to help you study all the Official North Pole websites. It is a way to gauge how well you know how to be an elf.

And it could be the difference between you getting a new elf job ahead of someone else.

The test is designed to help you grow as an elf. You don’t need to have a perfect score to get the elf job you want. But there is no doubt the better your test score is the better it looks on your elf resume.

The test is open book. And you can take it as many times as you like.

The test was designed by some of the best elf minds in the business – Elf Ernest, Elf Max and Elf Roger Star – just to name a few. We even had Santa take a look at it and he gave us his suggestions.

This is a first edition of the test. It may expand or change as time goes by.

So check in on this now and then and take it again and again. Make sure you know your elf stuff. Click the button below to go to the test:

How to Become a First Class Elf

The Department of Elf Resources has three grades of elves:

Junior Elf, 3rd Class – Elves who are brand new signing up at ElfHQ.com enter the elf ranks in this class. Once they have read the Elf Code and taken the Elf Oath, they become eligible for an upgrade in class as well a new elf job. The vast majority of elves following this path are first assigned or sign up at SantaTrackers.net to become a tracker elf.

Elf, 2nd Class – All new tracker elves are assigned as 2nd Class Elves. This is an entry-level designation. While so classed an elf is expected to go through all the elf training as specified at this link. While in the class elves can move through the Elf Ranks, designated from 1 to 6 stars in their elf profile. Stars are gained in the form of points. Points are gained by activity in the Elf Community, service time as an elf, badges earned, and jobs taken in various capacities. It can take a while to rise from 2nd class to 1st class.

Elf, 1st Class – A first class designation showcases an elf’s experience and knowledge. The following is required to become a first class elf:

  1. You must be a verified elf.
  2. You must have at least 1 year of service as an elf. This requirement can be waived by an Elf Supervisor, Community Manager or the Department of Elf Resources if you apply for and take an elf job that requires 1st class status.
  3. You must pass a comprehensive Elf Knowledge Quiz demonstrating your mastery of Operation Merry Christmas, the Elf Code, and the rules of the Elf Community on SantaTrackers.net.
  4. Having an Elf Rank of 3-stars or greater is advisable.
