Time to Get to Work

Time to Get to Work

Fellow elves of Sector 5, awaken and arise! I send you greetings from our brand new Regional Tracking Center here in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada.

Cold Lake is indeed a cold lake. We’re kind of far north for the first time in many years. But I’m enjoy the mild summer they have here and, in contrast to other parts of Canada, I’m pleased to report there are no large forest fires in this area. It is pretty and fresh here right now.

Our center is fully staffed, more than 200 elves are here with me getting ready for the season ahead.

Yes, it is still very early in the tracking of Santa 2023 but we’ve got work to do. Santa takes off in a little more than 130 days. Between now and the end of October, there is much we can do to get ready for that big day.

Let’s take it step by step. Over the course of the next few weeks I will be outlining for you the things you need to be doing from your location.

Our steps will begin with very “big picture” type steps. You will be sending in weather, geographical and structural information of a general sort. If you did these reports with us last year then you’ll be just updating information that you sent in before. This means the work will be fairly easy and fast for you to do.

We will also be focusing on two personal elements of Santa’s flight over the next several weeks: your personal home tracking center and, if you choose to do it, a landing zone at your home for Santa and his sleigh.

I’m also contemplating sending out a few prizes in the early going this year. No, I don’t have details of that yet but I wanted to throw it out there that I’m thinking about it. I think it would be fun to have a little contest or two and send out small treasures from the North Pole as souvenirs and thank-you’s for elves who work so hard all year.

What do you think of that idea?

About this Elf: Elf Pinky Verified Elf Santa's Council Member Sector 5 Elf Supervisor
Elf Pinky was recruited from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1992 and has since served as an instructor in sleigh flight theory at the North Pole Institute of Aviation. She worked very hard to earn her elf credentials, working a second shift first as a tool repair technician in Santa’s workshop and then as an engineer in the Wrapping Department designing wrapping machines. Pinky in recent years was a recruiter and trainer of sleigh test pilots and flies under the call sign Barracuda. Last year she served as a Flight Operations Director and demonstrated outstanding judgment and maturity in her duties supervising more than 400 elves, pilots, reindeer handlers and sleigh freighters.

Elf weather tracker

Hi Pinky, I think that is a great incentive. I am still waiting for LC more snow to get back to me, about helping with tracking the weather here where I live in Sector 5, according to what Santa had said in the chat, that he is going to have El Seymour snow get to me for some reason, I’m thinking that the information I have with the weather where I live in Sector 5 can be a big asset to the weather trackers there at the North Pole.

Great idea! I don’t know that I’ll be worthy of a prize, but I sure am looking forward to start working.

Elf notJack

Prizes are cool

ELF Ginger

I think a contest would be a great Idea! I think every elf whether they participate or not in the contests should get a souvenir of some sort for all of the hard work that they do! This may be asking a lot but we shall see :).

Elf Ulan

Hello, Elf Pinky! Sounds exciting and wonderful ideas! Many elves in Sector 5 always work well, so I hope they can receive the prizes! XD

Elf Buddy Frost

That sounds great and fun! I am very eager to get to work!

Elf Crusader

I love that idea pinky!

Great idea, Elf Pinky! I would be thrilled to have the chance to receive something from the North Pole, and I’m sure my fellow elves would agree! (I like Elf Ginger’s idea!)
I look forward to sending in some reports and am glad to hear that you are doing well!
I do have one question: I will be in the process of moving fairly soon. Would my reports need to be from the new location if we need to send them in before my move-in date? (This would not be a problem whatsoever; I just wanted to clarify.) Thank you!

Elf Ace

Hello Pinky! I personally think that this is a great idea. I feel like elves that are active would definitely participate. Many elves in sector 5 work adequately, so this would work great!
