Santa TrackersSector 1 covers the countries of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, the Marshall Islands, the Solomon Islands, Guam, and Wake Island. This broad area is one of the largest Santa visits and the weather is typically warm and balmy.

Issues that Santa runs into in this sector: The warm weather is very taxing on Santa’s reindeer. Residents of these areas do a good job of keeping a supply of water available for the reindeer and it is not usual in warmer places for some to keep misters going on their rooftops to aid in their relief. Even still, the reindeer tire quickly in this climate and Santa frequently has to change to a new team by the time he gets to Sector 2 in Asia.

Information the North Pole Tracking Center needs most from this area: Because it is summer time for this area of the world at Christmas many people vacation and engage in outdoor activities on Christmas Eve. This keeps the kids up late. We need to know areas where large festivals or gatherings are held that keep people up and out late. Fireworks are sometimes displayed in late evening hours on Christmas Eve keeping residents out until almost midnight local time. The can delay the entire Santa effort.

How Christmas is celebrated: There are not a lot of chimneys in this part of the world so children will hang their stockings on window sills, shelves and even their Christmas trees. But they love Santa in the part of the world and will frequently spend warm summer evenings on the beach watching the skies for his arrival.
