FAQ - Being a Tracker Elf

Question: How do I begin?

Before you do anything here on this website, please visit ElfHQ.com and read about what it takes to be an elf. You will need to learn the Elf Code and to take the Elf Oath. Once you do that, and understand that, and make the commitment to elf life, then come back here to being your elf career tracking Santa for Santa.

Question: What’s the difference between a North Pole tracker elf, a Junior tracker elf, and a Freelance tracker elf?

A North Pole tracker elf is a licensed elf tracking Santa for Santa as a member of the Elf Community here at SantaTrackers.net. As a member of that community you get to meet important elves, receive important elf-only information, and interact with other tracker elves on the Elf Wall. Many elves working AT the North Pole begin their careers as a North Pole tracker elf.

A Junior tracker elf is how you start here on SantaTrackers.net to become a North Pole tracker elf. You have six months. In that time you must learn the ropes of tracking Santa for Santa. You must report to your Elf Supervisor with regularity. You’re going to be doing full tracker elf work without all the tracker elf privileges. You’ll either be promoted into the Elf Community after that six months or released from your contract (you can sign up and try again).

A Freelance tracker elf is someone who just wants to track Santa for Santa. It’s great for those concerned about not having an account login to remember or for those too young to have an account. It’s also great for those who want to try it out without making a commitment to be any other kind of elf. You’ll get to send in tracker reports, and help Santa get around the world, while getting the best North Pole news and most accurate Santa tracking data available.

Question: Does any of this cost money?

No.

Question: Are there any special qualifications or restrictions in being a tracker elf?

Not really. It helps to be a believer in Santa Claus, of course. But you can be any age and live anywhere. Santa appreciates your life experience and knowledge you bring to the table but he doesn’t require anything special other than a desire to help. You can be any age. We do advise that if you are under the age of 18 that, yes, you can still be an elf but you will want to keep all laws imposed by the state and all the rules and standards given to you by your parents. We encourage you to become an elf and track Santa for Santa WITH your parents, regardless of your age.

Question: Will any of this give me access to Santa?

Maybe. Santa is a frequent visitor to the Elf Community here on SantaTrackers.net. He gives away what he calls Santa Points for elves who make good contributions to the effort. He chats frequently to answer questions and to give instructions. He does not use the Elf Community to take requests or wishlists or another traditional Santa interaction. This is not the place for that.

Question: Has anyone ever actually made it to the North Pole to live and work where Santa is?

Yes, the International Director of Santa Trackers, Elf Crash Murphy, who you frequently can hear on Kringle Radio and interact with here in the Elf Community, was brought to the North Pole many years ago and has worked in the Reindeer Operations Department, the Wrapping Department, and now in the Tracking Department at North Pole Flight Command. If it can happen for him, it can happen for anyone.

Question: Are there any kind of strict or special rules I have to follow as an elf?

Yes. Santa expects a high standard. Learning the Elf Code and taking the Elf Oath is a part of that. But we also have community standards here you will want to read and know.

Question: What do I actually DO as a tracker elf?

We encourage you to visit Elf University to learn all the information available there. It will take you some time and we understand that.

A tracker elf tracks Santa for Santa. He or she does this from where they live, not at the North Pole. Where you live is important because you can give Santa information he doesn’t already have. You can report on local stuff – traffic, weather, and other things that go on where you are. As a tracker elf, your Elf Supervisor will alert you to information that Santa needs from your area. You will fill out reports and send them in to North Pole Flight Command. They compile the data for Santa and help Santa plan his delivery route.

Since starting the Tracker Elf program in 2016 Santa’s delivery has been safer, faster and more efficient. That has only come because of elves like you!

Question: I had an account here before when I was an elf. Why don’t I have access to it anymore?

Part of our community standards is our Account Policy that requires your account to be active. Inactive accounts get deleted after 90 days. You can apply to become an elf again but your old account cannot be restored.
